Kitty ("the app", "we", "us") is a budgeting app. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes and the choices you have. We wrote it to describe exactly what this app does — not a generic template.
- The short version: your budget stays on your device. We don't ask for your name, email or bank login, we don't show ads and we never sell your data. We use a small number of services to understand how the app is used, to deliver settings and to process purchases.
1. Your budget data stays on your device
Everything you enter — income, expenses, transfers, notes, categories, accounts and balances, bills, savings goals and debts, and your pay-cycle settings — is stored only on your iPhone, in the app's private storage.
- *We never receive this data. It is not sent to our servers or to any analytics provider.
- *Optional iCloud sync: if you turn on iCloud sync (Premium), your budget is copied to *your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. It is encrypted and managed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it.
- *CSV export: if you export your transactions, the file is created on your device and only goes where you choose to share it.
- *No bank connection: Kitty never asks for, stores or uses your bank login details.
2. Information collected automatically
To keep the app working and improve it, a limited amount of technical information is processed by the services below. None of it includes the amounts, notes, account names or other content of your budget.
Firebase (Google)
- *Firebase Analytics records app usage events such as "onboarding completed", "paywall viewed", "goal completed" or "purchase completed", together with simple settings like which pay-cycle type you chose or how many categories you selected. It also processes device information (model, iOS version, language, app version), an app instance identifier and approximate location derived from your IP address (country/region level).
- *Advertising identifier (IDFA): only if you choose *Allow on Apple's "Allow tracking" prompt, Firebase Analytics may also receive your device's advertising identifier, which helps us understand which marketing campaigns bring people to the app. If you choose *Ask App Not to Track, it is never collected. You can change this at any time in *Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- *Firebase Authentication (anonymous): the app signs in anonymously so purchases can be linked to a random user ID. No name, email or phone number is involved.
- *Firebase Remote Config delivers app settings (for example maintenance notices or update reminders) and uses a Firebase installation identifier to do so.
Google processes this information under the Firebase privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat (purchases)
If you start a trial or buy Premium, purchases are made through Apple and processed by RevenueCat, which records your purchase history, subscription status, the anonymous user ID and basic device information so your Premium access works and can be restored. We never see your payment card details — Apple handles payment. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
