BreathGate ("the app", "we", "us") helps you put one calm breath between you and the apps you open on autopilot. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built BreathGate to work with as little personal data as possible: most of what you do in the app never leaves your iPhone.

1. The short version

2. Information that stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your iPhone (inside the app and its Screen Time extensions) and is not sent to us:

Data Why
Apps, categories and websites you select to gate To show the breathing screen before they open. Apple provides these as opaque tokens; we cannot read app names from them.
The first name you optionally enter To personalise greetings.
Onboarding quiz answers (e.g. daily phone time, goals) To calculate your personal "time lost" estimate and tailor the setup.
Routines, focus blocks and schedules To block apps at the times you choose.
Breathing sessions, opens avoided, check-ins and intentions you type To show your progress and statistics.
Notification preferences Reminders and check-ins are scheduled locally by iOS.

Deleting the app deletes all of this data.

Screen Time data. BreathGate uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity frameworks. Under Apple's rules, information obtained through these frameworks is used only to provide the app's blocking features, is never shared with third parties, and is never used for advertising or analytics.

3. Information processed by service providers

To run the app we use a small number of trusted providers. They process data on our behalf and under their own privacy and security terms.
